Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress, best known for her performances in the film Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Haiin Koun..! She began her career in the 1980s and came to popularity with her role in the film Tezaab where she starred alongside veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next role was in Dil which she shared screen space with Aamir. In Mumbai, she was raised within a middle class family parents. At a very young age, she began to study dance. When she was a teen she started acting, and struggled for years due to the fact that her films at first were unsuccessful. The actress gained fame and was one of the top movie actresses. She decided to take a break from her career after her wedding before returning to the world of entertainment. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit was nominated for the fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she took home eight. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honour in India. She also has a reputation for social activism.
